In honor of the 150th anniversary, the Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum have launched a new program to gather oral histories from Aiken County residents. Recollections seeks to identify people whose memories will add a human dimension to the Museum exhibits through the use of modern technology. Trained teams will videotape and record interviews of people about their memories of people, places and events in this area. These interviews will be edited for use in interactive kiosks in various exhibits where visitors can opt to listen to and sometimes watch the interviewee tell of their experiences related to that particular exhibit.
A demonstration of this technique, funded by an anonymous donor, has been incorporated into the new County History Exhibit.
